Machine Control

IB-02 was developed in close partnership with Micro Technic, with a strong emphasis on reliability, as the product is intended for use on construction machinery operating in demanding environments. As a result, thorough testing and rigorous quality assurance have been critical throughout the development process. Together, we have created a dependable solution that has strengthened the quality of our product and earned our full confidence.

The background

Makin is a Danish technology company with a clear goal: to make excavation more accurate, efficient, and data driven. Their 3D machine control system gives contractors and operators full insight into depth, position, and slope – right from the operator’s cabin – ensuring the job gets done right the first time.

But bringing technology onto the construction site requires hardware that’s as tough as the job itself.

The need

At the core of Makin’s solution is an interface box that gathers data from the machine’s many sensors and transmits it to the screen in the cabin. While Makin already had a working version of the box, they needed a new design – one that could withstand harsher climates, stronger vibrations, and extreme temperature shifts.

That was the starting point for the collaboration with Micro Technic.

The solution

We supported Makin in developing and producing a more robust version of their interface box – with a clear focus on reliability, durability, and quality in both materials and electronics.

The solution is optimized for rugged environments such as construction sites in Northern Norway, where hardware needs to cope with cold, moisture, and constant wear. In these conditions, technology must work not only in theory – but also in real life.

The result

With the new interface box, Makin now has a solution that’s better equipped for real-world challenges. The result: fewer failures, lower maintenance needs, and higher reliability – making a real difference for both end users and Makin’s technical team.

The collaboration is a great example of how Micro Technic contributes to the development and manufacturing of robust electronics that deliver value in the field.
