Parent Internship at Micro Technic: Kristoffer's Day Behind the Scenes
On October 9th, we had the pleasure of welcoming Kristoffer, the son of our Marketing and Sustainability Lead, Linda, for a parent internship here at Micro Technic. It was a great experience to have him with us for the day.
First stop: The Production Department
Kristoffer’s day started in our production department, where he toured the SMT, THT, and Test departments. It was an exciting opportunity for him to get an insight into how electronics are produced. “I thought it was really cool to learn more about how electronics are made. It was fun to see how tiny the components are in the SMT department, where a robot arm moves around and places them on those green circuit boards,” Kristoffer shared excitedly.
After SMT, Kristoffer visited our Box-Build and THT departments, where he got hands-on experience working on a PCB alongside our production worker Barbara. “It was really fun to actually sit and work on a circuit board myself instead of just watching. I even got to test a wire to see if it worked properly. That was super fun,” he explained.
In the Test department, Kristoffer also had the chance to see how we test our customers’ products together with our Test Manager Jacob. “It’s pretty cool to see how electronics work. You don’t often think about how things really function,” Kristoffer contemplates.
Insight into the Development Department
After the production tour, Kristoffer headed to our development department, where he teamed up with our software engineer, Simon, to get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on there. Simon explained how software plays a crucial role in electronics production and development. “It was really interesting, and some of it made perfect sense, but I didn’t quite understand how all those letters and numbers turn into an electronics product,” Kristoffer admitted. He found it fascinating but also a bit complicated and confusing.
Visit to the Marketing & Sales Department
Finally, Kristoffer visited our marketing and sales department, where he learned about his mom’s role as a key link between customers and production. “I thought my mom just sent emails all day, but it was fun to see that it’s actually a lot more than that,” he said with a smile.
Kristoffer also worked with our Marketing and Communications Assistant, Thea, where they made a short film about the THT department and also documented his day at the company, which has now turned into this article and a LinkedIn post. “It was really fun to try something creative. I enjoy editing videos, so it was great to learn more about that. We also talked a lot about how important it is to have a clear story when you’re making a video or writing something,” Kristoffer explained.
A Successful Day
Overall, we had a fantastic day with Kristoffer, and we are very happy he visited us. It was great to see his curiosity and engagement, and we hope he gained some valuable insights from his day at Micro Technic.
